The above symptoms are only some
of the more familiar messages. Your female body talks
to you all of your life, but few of us know how to listen—or
even know that these are messages.

gaining weight, and no matter how hard you try, you
can't seem to lose. You may think it's just because you're
undisciplined, or if you starved yourself more, you might start
to lose. But in reality, it's your body telling you that things
are off balance.
Or if you're depressed, you may
think it's your own fault, there's nothing you can do about it,
or maybe you need antidepressants.
But really, it may be a sign that
your thyroid is low, or you're not making enough progesterone
or testosterone, which can set you up for osteoporosis later
in life. On the other hand, depression may also mean that you're

are trained to see symptoms in this light. In our age
of specialization, few doctors know how to address the whole
